I would like to be known as an intelligent woman, a courageous woman, a loving a woman, a woman who teaches by being. ~ Maya Angelou

You're never too young to inspire change. My upcoming book documents my journey from foster care to becoming a social work professional and Mommy! Young people have a voice and I feel it is my job to help the world hear it.

ABOUT APRIL RAE

God has been so good to me. He’s afforded me the opportunity to serve 10 ½ years in the very system that I aged out of. This tenure and my education have allowed me to train youth and professionals in areas of youth engagement, policy development, self-advocacy, substance abuse, and strategic sharing. I love working with young people and affirming their experiences. We’ve learned together how to have a vision past our circumstances. I’m passionate about getting youth voice to a legislative level to affect systematic change. I wish to serve as a consultant to agencies that serve youth to ensure that their voice is heard and elevated as such so that they are engaged in their own case planning. A seat at the table.
